City of Trinidad Mayor,
Council, City Manager

Trinidad, CO 81082

Ladies and Gentlemen:

The E911 Board wishes to thank all who attended the April 23, 2002 Positron Demonstration at the Trinidad Community Center. We feel the demonstration was a success and we all gained a great deal of information and understanding of the equipment capabilities. Several handouts were provided to all in attendance and we ask that you share the information and handouts with those who were unable to attend the work session.

The E911 Board firmly feels that the upgrades to the current dispatch equipment are very important to both the City and the County residents. We wish to move forward with the upgrades as quickly as possible, taking everyone's needs into consideration.

Therefore, we request that representatives from all entities attend the E911 Board's next work session, scheduled for May 14, 2002 at 4:30 pm at the TSJC Mine Tech Building, located off of I25 on Freedom Road, just South of US Disposal.

As stated at the demonstration we need to inform Positron what upgrades we want and then there is data and protocol information that Positron and Qwest will need to properly program the equipment. Therefore, the work session agenda is solely dedicated to your entities needs and what you and your department's participation will be in order to obtain a contract and dollar figure from Positron and Qwest for the upgrades.

We will then compile the needs and suggestions received and forward that information to Positron and Qwest so that a contract and firm dollar figure for the upgrades can be presented to the Board of County Commissioners for their approval. (note: The BOCC has already approved funding for the upgrades through the 1% sales tax bond. Also, the E911 Boards Legal Council will be reviewing the contract before it is presented to the BOCC.) Please keep in mind that once the contract is approved and signed by the BOCC it will take Positron and Qwest up to six (6) months to ship, install, and train before we can implement the upgrades.

Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact Mike White, E911 Board Chairman at (719) 868-3622.
Sincerely,
        Michael White
          E911 Chairman
